SPaMCAST 847 features a wide-ranging discussion with Pete Oliver-Krueger and Michael Dougherty. We discuss their new book, Shift: From Product To People. Shift is a business novel of organizational change. You will find this an important view into change and transformation. We also hit science fiction and psychology. I even dissed George RR Martin. Two notes. This is the last cast of year 18. We begin year 19 next week. Also a quick content warning – there is laughter in this podcast. If you don’t like listening to people have fun while they discuss a serious topic listen anyway.

Re-read Saturday News
This week we tackle the Preface and Introductions of Development as Freedom by Amartya Sen (have you bought your copy?). These two sections provide important insights into the rest of the book (this is stuff you probably don’t read but really should). In the Preface, Sen makes two fundamental points including his definition of development. In the Introduction, Sen highlights the relationship between development and freedoms. I told you that you should read the front matter multiple times. Now it sounds like I am nagging.

Next SPaMCAST
SPaMCAST 848 will begin year 19! I have been hearing suggestions from coaches and change agents that the end outweighs the means. This consequentialist approach will do you, your organization, and those around you very little good in the long run. The journey matters. We will discuss consequentialism and change next week.
We will also have a visit from Jon M Quigley who brings his wonderful Alpha and Omega of Product Development column to the podcast.
